| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina HERMAN D. JACKSON Herman Delano Jackson, 75, husband of Bettie Bartlette Jackson, died Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Albert J. and Eunice Stone Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he served as a former deacon, member of the choir and the bus ministry. He was formerly employed by Kneece Tractor Co. and Pitts-Lowder Tractor Co. Surviving are his wife of Sumter; three daughters, Lynn Bartlette Jackson of Columbia, and Thommie Ruth Jackson and Rhonda Yvonne Jackson, both of Sumter; two sisters, Corinne Jackson Nicholes and Mary Jackson Jennings, both of Sumter; an adopted grandson, Nathan Dabbs of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, A.M. Jackson and Phillip Wade Jackson Sr. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. today at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Stephen Hendricks and the Rev. Henry Stanford officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Past and present deacons of Bethel Baptist Church and other nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family received friends Monday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and will receive friends other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd., Suite 100, West Columbia, SC 29169; or to a charity of one's choice. The family would like to give special thanks to Beryl W.
