| HIST | News - Obituaries Tuesday, May. 12, 2009 Edward Leonard Alsup WEST COLUMBIA — Funeral service for Edward Leonard Alsup, 78, will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2009, in Christ Sanctified Holy Church, Perry, GA, officiated by Rev. Harry Collins, III. Interment will follow in Christ Sanctified Holy Church Campground. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Mr. Alsup died Sunday, May 10, 2009; a resident of West Columbia for 31 years, he was born June 30, 1930, in Memphis, TN, he was a son of the late Joyce Alsup, Sr., and Edna Carter Alsup. He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked from a young age as a brick mason. Survivors are his wife of 42 years, Katherine Lance Alsup; step-daughters, Mary Lance Stepp (Larry) of Fletcher, NC, and Carla Faye Brinkley of Lugoff; son, Thomas Leonard Alsup of Dallas, GA, stepson, Kenneth Wayne Brinkley of Charleston and stepson, Markley Fonze Brinkley of West Columbia; sisters, Edna “Mickey” Wright (Karl) of Raleigh, NC, and Ella Jean Rollins (Vernon) of Columbia; brothers, Joyce E. “Jack” Alsup, Jr. of West Columbia and Lester Roy Alsup, Sr. of Mills River, NC; also a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. www.thompsonsfuneral.com «Obituary posted: May 12, 2009» [1] | |
