LUCAS Jessie Preast Lucas, 81, widow of Wallace "Johnny" Lucas, went home to be with her Lord and other beloved family, Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011. Born in Poplar Bluff, Mo., she was a daughter of the late Jess Franklin and Grace Dean Preast. Mrs. Lucas was a member of Walker's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and was a retired secretary/bookkeeper. Surviving are two daughters, Gloria Goff and husband, Clyde "Robbie," and Kay Hiers of Sumter; one son, Travis "T.J." Lucas of Sumter; five grandchildren, Alex Bramlett and wife, Sandy, Wendy Rupert and husband, Nick, Shana Anderson, Emily and Abby Lucas; and eight great-grandchildren, Jordan and Dean Bramlett, Shelby Paranto, Erik Skipper, Jessica Rupert, Rusty and Katie Anderson and Gage Floyd. She was preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence Preast; eight sisters, Louise Haley, Veneda Sutton, Helen Austin, Minnie Bolyn, Claire Junkin, LaVerne DuBose, Shirley Mathis and Lillie Hill. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Nat Brown officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy DuBose, Daniel DuBose, Emery Skipper, Troy Wilsey, Wayne Gainey and Donnie Austin.
