COWARD Posted Saturday, March 14, 2020 6:00 am John W. "Johnny" Coward, 69, widower of Cindy J. Coward, died on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. He was a son of the late Joseph W. and Serena Lane Coward of Lynchburg. He graduated from Bishopville High School and Sumter Area Technical College. He was employed by P & R Fabrication for more than 30 years. Johnny was a faithful member of New Calvary Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years. He and Cindy were very active in the Golden Age Club. He is survived by his son, Mark Allen Coward (Kim); daughter, Lori Ann Coward; grandchildren, Christopher, Parker and Hayden, all of Sumter; and sisters, Laura Burgess (Jimmy) of Kingstree and Stella Rogers (Elvin) of Sumter. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Eddie Richardson and the Rev. Wayland Owens officiating.
