| HIST | Wanda G. Westmoreland Wanda G. Westmoreland passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. Wanda was born May 18, 1924, in Wallburg, N.C. She was married to Howard P. Westmoreland (deceased) on June 10, 1950, and resided in Winston-Salem, N.C., for several years, where they raised their family. In later years, Wanda and Howard became owners of The Herald Office Supply in Myrtle Beach and worked together to develop a successful office products business. Wanda was a devoted wife and loving caregiver to her husband, Howard, who suffered for many years with multiple sclerosis. She was also an exceptional mother, always dedicated to her three surviving children, Ted O. Westmoreland and Sandra W. Adams and Hudson of Sumter, and Pamela W. Blakely and John of Naples, Fla. Wanda greatly enjoyed spending time with her four loving grandchildren, Mallory R. Westmoreland, Larson O. Westmoreland, Hunter W. Adams and Ashley R. Adams, all of Sumter. Her surviving relatives include her sister, Sue Bodenhamer; and brothers, William and Sonny Garrison. A kind and gracious lady, Wanda was blessed with a loving, cheerful nature, and was truly a pleasure to be with. Flowers and gardening were a joyful hobby, along with bird watching and arts and crafts. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. As a devout Christian, Wanda was a faithful follower of the Rev. Billy Graham's ministry and lived her life dedicated to it's Christian principals. Wanda and her family are especially grateful to her devoted caregivers, Joan & Angela, the staff at Morningside Assisted Living and Solaris Hospice. All of her family and friends will greatly miss Wanda. May God bless her. Mom is an angel. A reception with family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. The memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.
