| HIST | 1500 Pinewood Road, Sumter, South Carolina Yesteryear for 29-31 July 2023 Angie Kaye Jewell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Winston Jewell, casts a wary glance at an alligator snapping turtle her father caught while it was crossing the front yard of their home on Sept. 17, 1973. The turtle was headed from the drained Korn pond to the waters of Forest Lake Pond. The turtle was 35 inches long, 6 inches high and weighed about 35 pounds.
