Rabon Jr. Grover Ezell Rabon Jr., 84, beloved husband of Billie Rabon for 66 years, died on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. He was born July 22, 1926, in Lugoff, Kershaw County. He was one of eight children born to the late Grover Ezell and Kate Rabon. He spent his earlier life in Ashwood and graduated from Ashwood High School in 1943. He was a longtime member of the Sumter Baptist Temple. He was very active in the local business community, having owned and operated several businesses over his lifetime. His most recent involvement was in maintaining local real estate. He was generous in his relationships and always tried to give everyone "a fair and good deal." His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Billie, and his children, Gloria Lombardi (Rich) of Williamsburg, Va., and Grover "Bubba" Rabon III (Cathy) and Gary Rabon (Debbie), both of Sumter; his eight grandchildren, Dr. Grover "Gee" Rabon (Lori) and Dr. Catherine "Caetie" Rabon, both of Sumter, Alan Lombardi (Denise) of Richmond, Va., Neal Lombardi (Carrie) of Arlington, Va., Mark Rabon and William "Bill" Rabon of Sumter; three sisters, Sara Davis and Mildred "Mickey" Brown of Sumter and Betty McGee Lewis (Jim) of Florence; two brothers, Bobby Rabon (Juanita) and Larry Rabon (Gerri) of Sumter; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Randall Barry Rabon; his grandson, James Ezell Rabon; a sister, Emily Haselden; and a brother, R.H. "Pete" Rabon. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Alan Lombardi, Neal Lombardi, Marty Martin, Bill Rabon, Dr. Gee Rabon, James Edens Rabon, Mark Rabon and Scott McGee. Honorary pallbearers will be Luther Bramlett, Grady Brown, L. Harvin Bullock, Marion Cain, Dr. Billy Clowney, Randy Galloway, Dr. Lea Givens, Reedy Herring, W.A. Henderson, Charles Hodge, Frank Jenkins, Sidney Mazingo, Jack Miles, Rick Overstreet and Kenneth Young. The family received friends Tuesday at Bullock Funeral Home and will receive friends at other times at the family residence, 2382 Chinquapin Drive.
