Born in Lee County, he was a son of the late James Lawrence Hinson and Grace Idale Hinson. Mr. Hinson was a member of Sumter First Church of the Nazarene. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Hinson was a retired carpenter and member of the Palmetto Coon Hunters Association. He was a resident at NHC of Sumter for nearly seven years. Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Hinson Geddings (Calvin) of Sumter; four grandchildren, Derek Geddings (Kelli), Jamie Geddings (Tiffany), Crystal Geddings and Eddie Mathis; and four great-grandchildren, Avery Geddings, Abrahm Geddings, Zachary Gray and Carter Geddings. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Fraser officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the home of Calvin and Patricia Geddings, 4155 Nazarene Church Road.
