The bridegroom-elect is the grandson of the late Philip and Myrtle Bettinger of Newtown, Pa., and Joseph and Dottie Andersen and the late Nelle Andersen of Wilson, N.C. He is a 2007 graduate of Sumter High School and plans to graduate from Winthrop University on May 7, 2011, with a bachelor of arts degree in music education.
