Major William L. Hasty Sr., died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Kershaw County, she was a daughter of the late Alex Branham and the late Eva Ray Branham. She was a member of St. Andrew Church of God. Survivors include four daughters, Shelvy H. Stokes (Wade), Barbara Ann Hasty, Joan Carol Jacquier (Jacques), and Penny L. Hasty; a son, William L. Hasty Jr.; grandsons, Richard Stokes Jr. (Lynn), Chris Stokes (Janie), Bill Hasty III and Rhett Hasty; granddaughters, Sandee Lewis (Greg), Kim Carr, Suzy Haynsworth (Knox), and Beth Prendergast (Sean); two sisters, Joyce Huggins and Mary Ann Yarborough (James); a brother, Murdic Branham (Louise); 12 loving great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew Church of God with Pastor Frank Ramey officiating. Burial will be in the Piedmont Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Murdic Branham, Wade Stokes and Jacques Jacquier. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at 991 Spring Hill Road, Bishopville.
