King, age 45, beloved husband of Angel King, died on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Prisma Health Tuomey. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, he was a son of the late James Enoch King and Shirley Olivia Surles King. Temple was employed with the South Carolina Department of Corrections as a correctional officer for more than 20 years. Temple truly loved animals and was deeply involved in rescuing animals and providing love and a good home. Temple enjoyed drawing and painting portraits. He always found humor in life's tribulations. He never met a stranger, and he could talk to anyone like he had known them all his life. Temple loved his children very much. He fought through his illness so that he could remain with his family. He was a very loving husband, wonderful father and a caring brother. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded by his father, James; mother, Shirley; and brother, Scot King. He is survived by three sons, Marcus Anthony King, Jordan Scot King and Bryce Logan King of Sumter; one brother, John Whitaker of California; three sisters, Pamela Fisher (James) of Sumter, Kelly Hunter of Columbia and Heather King of North Carolina; and one aunt, Johnie Grindstaff of Tennessee. A celebration of life was held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Bullock Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Carolina Helping Paws Rescue in loving memory of Temple and his dog Cooper.
