| HIST | CHARLES S. HOAG Charles Stephen Hoag, 45, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at VA Dorn Medical Center in Columbia. Born in Sherman, Texas, he was a son of retired Air Force Maj. Charles Cook Hoag and Deborah Frost Hoag. Mr. Hoag was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Gulf War. Surviving are his wife, Valerie Denise Hatfield, of Sumter; his parents of Florida; one son, John W. Brown, of Sumter; one brother, Christopher Edwin Hoag and wife, Birte, of Florida; one niece, Hailey Hoag; one nephew, Hendrix Hoag. Services will be private. Memorials may be made to Fisher House Foundation, 111 Rockville Pike, Suite No. 420, Rockville, Md., 20850-5168 (www.fisherhouse.org). Hatfield (Carolyn Ann Troublefield). My name is Valerie Denise Hatfield, DOB 11/04/1972 at Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, SC. I was married to Wayne Brown (DOB: 07/06/1970 in Cherry Hill, NJ) on March 31, 1993 in Sumter, SC. We had one child, John William Brown (DOB: 08/29/1995 at Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, SC). We were divorced in February 1997. From February 1997 to April 2012, I was "common-law" married to Charles Stephen Hoag (DOB: 08/23/1966 in Sherman TX to Charles Cook and Deborah (Frost) Hoag). Steve passed away 04/07/2012 and his cremated remains are buried at the Sarasota Veteran's Cemetery in Sarasota, FL. His father is also buried there, having passed away just 6 months later.
