| HIST | Juanita Strickland Sparrow | Visit Guest Book Juanita Strickland Sparrow SCRANTON Mrs. Juanita S. Sparrow died Friday, May 4, 2012, at a Florence hospital after a long illness. She was born on September 24, 1934, in Florence County, a daughter of the late Jake F. Strickland, Sr., and Esther Vause Strickland. She was a 1952 graduate of Olanta High School and attended Columbia College and Coker College. She was married to John W. Sparrow on July 8, 1956. Mrs. Sparrow was a homemaker and faithful member of Scranton United Methodist Church during all of her married life. She was a former member of Bethel Baptist Church. She loved to cook and was at her best when she was doing something for other people. She is survived by her husband, John W. Sparrow of Scranton; two sons, J. Wesley Sparrow, Jr., and Sammy (Claudia) Sparrow of Scranton; three grandchildren, Matthew Sparrow, Amanda Sparrow and Samantha Sparrow; one brother, Jake F. Strickland, Jr. (Winnie) of Scranton; two sisters, Rebecca Elmore of Scranton and Naomi (David) Moore of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon, May 6, 2012, from 3:00 5:00 P.M. at Carolina Funeral Home, 215 E. Highway 378 ByPass, Scranton. The funeral service will be held at Scranton United Methodist Church on Monday, May 7th at 11:00 A.M., with burial to follow at the Church Cemetery. The family would like to extend a sincere "Thank You" to Mrs. Dot Johnson, and the Doctors, Nurses and Personnel at the CVICU Unit of McLeod Regional Medical Center for their care and concern for Mrs. Sparrow and her family. Mrs. Sparrow's husbands and sons would like to express their sincerest gratitude to Naomi Moore, Winnie Strickland and Claudia Sparrow for their loving care.
