Born June 11, 1943, in Effingham, she was a daughter of the late Robert B. Hicks and Sarah Hicks Ford. Ms. Dennis was a member of Smithville Pentecostal Holiness Church. She retired from BD after 23 years of service. Survivors include her loving companion, Richard Whisnant; one son, Ricky Dennis (Teresa); a step-daughter, Sandy Smith (Cecil); and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Bill Dennis; two sisters, Mary Bradley and Lola Mae Donlon; one brother, Robert Hicks; and a step-daughter, Donna Morris. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Morris officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
