| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina HARVIN MELLETTE LAND Posted Saturday, September 23, 2023 6:00 am Harvin Mellette Land, 82, husband of Barbara Ward Land, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, at the home of his grandson in Lexington. Born Nov. 9, 1940, in Sumter, he was the son of the late Milo Land and Adelle Mellette Land. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He owned and operated Land Roofing Co. until his retirement. Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Terry Land of Sumter; a daughter, Robin Brandenburg of Lexington; two grandsons, Travis Brandenburg and Blaze Robertson (Lauren); two great-grandchildren, Hunter Brandenburg and June Harper Brandenburg; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Iola Seelbinder and Mary Ruth Britt. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
