Born in Jamestown, New York, he was a son of Kathleen Phillips and the late Robert Phillips. Mr. Phillips was employed by Enersys. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Surviving are his wife and mother of Sumter; two daughters, Jennifer Lynch of Sumter and Nicole Phillips-Stroman (Tybee) of Orangeburg; two brothers, Scotty Phillips and James Phillips, both of Sumter; a sister, Gloria Cardone of Sumter; and four grandchildren, Sky, Daniel, Christopher and Annabelle. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel Stroman or the Rev. Theron Smith officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
