Smith, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020, at Prisma Health Richland. Born Nov. 7, 1956, in Washington, D.C., she was a daughter of the late Robert E. Preusser and Betty Nichols Preusser. She was a member of St. Anne/St. Jude Catholic Church and was employed by High Hill Rural Water Co. In her younger years, she was a speed skater. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband of Dalzell; two children, Jason Nicholas Oakes (Lori) of Sumter and Lorraine Oakes of Dalzell; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Christine P. Byrd (Paul) of Dalzell; and a brother, Joseph Alexander Preusser (Stephani) of Cibolo, Texas. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Preusser Jr. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church with Father Giovannie Nunez, CRM, officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
