| HIST | SOPHIA C. DENNY Posted Friday, February 20, 2015 6:00 am BISHOPVILLE - Funeral services for Sophia Lottie Creed Denny, age 95, widow of Dr. Richard M. Denny, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at First Baptist Church of Bishopville. Dr. Gary Colbach will officiate. Burial will be in Piedmont Cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the fellowship hall at the church. Mrs. Denny passed away on Tuesday evening, Feb. 17, 2015. She was born in Camden, a daughter of the late George Alvin and Mattie Adeline Smyrl Creed. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bishopville. She was a graduate of Coker College and taught algebra for several years at Bishopville and Bethune high schools. While her health allowed, she was very active with many local civic organizations. Surviving are her sons, Dr. Lee (Marian) Denny of Sumter and Dr. Lyn (Abbie) Denny of Lake City; daughter, Frances (F.F.-Bubba) Morrison III of Hartsville; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Lt. Charles E. Denny, and by three siblings. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
