| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina EMMIE WHITE WINDHAM DRIGGERS Posted Wednesday, June 14, 2023 6:00 am Emmie White Windham Driggers, 85, widow of Robert L. Windham and Euel M. Driggers, died Sunday, June 11, 2023, at a local nursing facility. Born in Kalamazoo, Mississippi, she was a daughter of the late Clarence A. White and Gladys Tolbert White Armentrout. Mrs. Driggers was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church. She was a former certified nursing assistant at NHC-Sumter. Surviving are four sons, Robert "Bobby" Windham (Julie), Gerald "Ray" Windham (Linda) and Louis "Eddie" Windham (Lori), all of Sumter, and Marion T. Windham (Amy) of Hemingway; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John R. Clark and Clarence "Whitey" White Jr.; a sister, Clara "Sis" Windham; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Clark. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny McLeod officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at 4215 Muriel St., Sumter. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the CNAs, nurses, doctors and all of the entire staff at Sumter Health & Rehabilitation facility.
