| HIST | Almost died at sea. On a ship from France, she was declared dead, but her father wanted to embrace her before being buried at sea. He felt her move and she lived. De’Ramee Her parents came to this country as refugees during the French Revolution. On the way, the little girl contracted small pox and was pronounced dead. Before her burial at sea, her father embraced her and thus discovered a slight sign of life. She recovered and lived to see many namesakes in the Haynsworth family. ¶ Obituary says DIED- In the vicinity of Sumter, S. C. , October, 15th 1858, Mrs. MARY MAGDALENE HORTENSIA, relict of the late John Haynsworth, Esqr. ¶ Mrs. Haynsworth was born in France, December 27th, 1789, and came to this country at an early age with her father, the late John F. DeLorme. ¶ She was united in marriage with John Haynsworth, Esqr., in the year 1808, and was left a widow with eight children in the year 1831. Not long after her sad bereavement, she sought the consolations of religion and connected herself with the Baptist Church, in which she lived a faithful member, to the day of her death. ¶ During her last protracted and painful illness, she often expressed herself in grateful terms to God for his goodness to her and her childrfen; for she had found Him the widow’s God and the Father of her fatherless children. Her earnest desire and prayer was, that they all might trust in that Savior to whose service she had long devoted herself, and who was her only hope in view of death and eternity. ¶ Surrounded by her children, (one of whom having been summoned from a distant State) she breathed her last in the hope of a blessed immortality. ¶ She was a lady of warm affections and generous impulse, and had endeared herself to a large circle of friends, as the crowded Church and Solemn congregation fully evidenced on the day of her funeral. ¶ Thus the aged and much respected member of society - the ardent friend - the affectionate and tender mother - the servant of God, has been called away from all these relatives on earth, to the enduring associations and permanent and blissful rewards of the heavenly world. ¶ We weep - but not the tears of woe-- For she’s not dead, but lives above--And O, when we are called to go, May we fly there on wings of love.
