Mae was born on March 1, 1923, in Sumter, to George Ducker and Annie Poplin Betts. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Cecil W. Brown, John A. Buck and Charles "Chuck" K. Yelton; as well as her seven brothers and sisters. Mae was very proud of and dedicated to her family. She endured many personal sacrifices for the benefit of her family, and all are eternally grateful. She is survived by her sons, Cecil W. "Woody" Brown of Longmont, Colorado, Thomas E. and Cecelia Brown of Hartsville, Harry R. and Janice W. Brown of Columbia and James Robert and Martha Lee Brown of Leesburg, Florida; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was a longtime member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, serving as circle chairman on several occasions. The family welcomes all friends and family to a celebration of Mae's life at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Forest Lake Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor. Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel, is assisting the family with the arrangements. The family wants to especially thank the entire staff of the Crossings of Columbia for all of the love and special care provided to our mother during the last two years. In addition, we would like to thank the staff of Pathway Hospice for their tremendous support and dedication to her during the last few months.
