| HIST | Eleanora Norvelle Richardson 1916 - 2019 Obituary Eleanora Norvelle Richardson, 102, of Union, South Carolina, widow of Henry Burchill Richardson, entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 7, 2019. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019, at 1 p.m. in the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, 320 South Church Street, Union, South Carolina. Interment will follow in the churchyard. Eleanora "Nonie" was born November 25, 1916, in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She was a daughter of William Manning Richardson and Caroline Gordon Richardson. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Burchill Richardson Jr., and her son, Henry Burchill Richardson III. She is survived by her daughter, Caroline Gordon Richardson; grandson, Thomas (Jessica) Cutler; two great-granddaughters, Mirabelle and Elodie Cutler; great-grandson, Burchill Cutler-all of Charleston, South Carolina. She is also survived by her sister, Betty R. McCants of Orangeburg, South Carolina, and numerous nieces and nephews. Throughout her life she was an avid supporter of her church and her community. She was a member of the Episcopal Church Women, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, State College Board of Trustees, and several literary and social clubs in Union. Her honors include: President of the Episcopal Church Women, Diocese of Upper South Carolina; Most Honored Woman in Diocese of Upper South Carolina (2007); first woman Chairman of the Board of Union County Carnegie Library; honored for her work with the University of South Carolina, Union branch; recipient of the H.B. Richardson Award from York Place Episcopal Church Home for Children; and recipient of the Lander College medal.
