  HIST	FLOYD WHITFIELD Posted Tuesday, September 5, 2023 6:00 am Floyd Whitfield, age 88, beloved husband of 66 years to the late Margaret Hanley Whitfield, died of natural causes on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born in Cedartown, Georgia, he was a son of the late Otis and Iris C. Whitfield. After graduating high school, Floyd joined the U.S. Navy and served for four years. He was stationed in New York, where he met and married Margaret. Together, they owned and operated Honda of Sumter since 1972. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by a son, Ronnie Whitfield and his wife, Carol, of Sumter; two daughters, Debbie Whitfield Stewart and her husband, Reynolds, of Barnwell and Catherine Whitfield Corbett and her husband, Warren, of Aiken; nine grandchildren, Aaron Whitfield, Stacie Clark, Mandy Geddings, Ryan Barnhill, Whitney Barnhill, Alicia Jones, Todd Corbett, Curtis Corbett and Kayla Corbett; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Colton Clark. A memorial service honoring the lives of both Floyd and Margaret will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Goff officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 5 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Bullock Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial and Tributes, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216 or the Alzheimer's Association, S.C.
