DELORES ANN SINGLETON
Delores Ann Singleton, beloved wife of 48 years of Rudolph "Rudy" Singleton Sr., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
Born Aug. 30, 1946, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Altamont Moses and Gracie Geddings. Delores was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family and friends with passion. Delores loved to help the poor and downtrodden, especially around the holiday seasons. Her favorite pastime was homemaking, along with going to church and studying God's word. Delores was a devoted Christian and a member of Northside Memorial Baptist Church. As a Christian lady, Delores inherited the spiritual seed of Abraham and the shield of Jesus Christ.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Rudolph Singleton Jr. of Sumter and Robert Ellis Singleton of Prattville, Ala.; a daughter, Sheila Ann Singleton Geddings of Sumter; two brothers, Jimmy Dewey Geddings and Manning Moses "Toogie" Geddings, both of Sumter; three sisters, Frances Geddings Boykin, Gladys Geddings Avins and Helen Geddings, all of Sumter; six grandchildren, Rudolph Singleton III, Amber Jo Barnette, Ariel Ann Singleton, Davis Smith Jr., Charles Ellis Smith and Jonathan Michael Smith, all of Sumter; six great-grandchildren, Bristol Lynn Singleton, William Mathew Singleton, Landon Carter Smith, Caleb Callahan Smith, Preston Alexander Smith and Brady Allen Murphy, all of Sumter.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating.
Musical selections will be rendered by the Rev. Robert Hall (retired).
Burial will follow at the Sumter Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Curry Dukes, Tom Garrett, Ronnie Grooms, Al Gummerson, Tommy Rogers and Eddie Skey.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bullock Funeral Home.
