Ashley Rene Atkins and Robert Bradford Scott Jr. were united in marriage at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Alice Drive Baptist Church, Sumter.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wayne Atkins Sr. of Sumter and Mrs. Debra Thames Frazier of Bremerton, Wash., and the granddaughter of Mrs. Bessie Atkins and the late J.T. Atkins and the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Thames, all of Sumter. She graduated from Sumter High School and Florence-Darlington Technical College with a degree in dental hygiene. She is employed as a dental hygienist by Dr. John Stephenson, DMD.
The bridegroom is the son of Robert Bradford Scott Sr. of Sumter and Mrs. Deidre Martino Scott of Myrtle Beach, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. O.S. Scott of Sumter, Mrs. Faith Scott of Sumter, and Mrs. Sara Martino of Myrtle Beach and the late Charles Martino, formerly of Sumter. He graduated from Sumter High School and attended the University of South Carolina. He is employed as the vice president of sales and operations of Office Church School Supply.
Dr. Clay Smith officiated at the ceremony.
Music was provided by Debbie Hudson, organist; Kipper Ackerman, harpist; and Allie Nance, vocalist.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an A-line ivory silk designer gown by Augusta Jones featuring a sweetheart neckline with embroidery and beaded lace, an empire waist and a chapel-length lace train. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of pink Gerbera daisies and pink and ivory roses.
Jessica Renee Reeks served as maid of honor, with Mrs. Kimberly Barnette Osborne as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Marie Atkins, Mrs. Eleanor Hatfield Butler, Dolores Ann Ditty, Mrs. Ashley Dollard Hustad, Mrs. Jessica Frierson Jones, Alyssa Caroline Lennard, Ashley Elizabeth Scott, Mrs. Kathryn Lamb Scott, Rachel Elizabeth Atkins and Holly Kathryn Scott. Madison McRae Lyles served as flower girl.
The bridegroom's father, and his brother, Dustin Charles Scott, served as best men. Groomsmen were Richardson Talmadge Atkins, David Hastings Dinkins Jr., Kendrick John Elmore, Jeremy James Gould, Robert Brian Mims, Jason Paul Ross, Jordan Ashley Ross, Horace Lee Scott Sr. and Henry Allen White. Gary Allen Jones III and Cooper James Scott served as ring bearers.
Also participating were Thomas Wayne Atkins Jr., Christopher Chad Hustad, Horace Lee Scott Jr., Clarke Alan Smith, Steven Michael Witherspoon Jr., Lauren Thomason and Cristen Hester.
The bride's parents held the reception at the Carolina Skies Club.
The bridegroom's parents held the rehearsal party at the Sumter City Centre.
Following a wedding trip to Montego, Bay, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Sumter. [3, 4] |
