Avins, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her husband and sons. Born on June 16, 1940, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Louie and Marie McLeod Barkley. Survivors include her husband of 67 years; two loving sons, Dondi Avins (Lisa) of Sumter and Alvin Avins (Kim) of Manning; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Avins Varner; four brothers, Joe Barkley, Jack Barkley, Junior Barkley and William Barkley; and a sister, Ann Barkley Hinson. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with George Geddings officiating. Burial will be in the Geddings Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Brian Avins, Dondi K. "Kelvin" Avins Jr., Cecil Varner, Roy "Bubba" Barker Jr., Micheal Turner and Shane Walton. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Dondi and Lisa Avins, 4450 Nazarene Church Road. Memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice, 1203 E. Cheves St., Florence, SC 29506-2711. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.  [5, 8, 9, 12]
