The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Shepard Sublette Sr. of Sumter, and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Ervin Brunson Sr. of Sumter, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alvah Tindal Sublette Sr. of Westminster. She graduated from Wilson Hall and Clemson University. She is employed as a team manager by State Farm Automobile Insurance Co. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. Robert Richard and Dr. Carleen Spano of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Gary Robert Garner Sr. of Springfield, Va., and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. David W. Donaldson of Boca Raton, Fla., Mrs. Josiah “Jack” Garner and the late Mr. Garner of Lexington, Va., and Mr. and Mrs. Michael John Spano of Lakewood, N. J. He attended Stetson University in Deland, Fla. He is employed as vice president of Univest Financial Services, LLC. Dr. Wiley Stephens officiated at the cememony. Music was provided by Mary Ruth Solem, organist; and Diana Pusey, flutist. Given in marriage by her father; the bride wore a candlelight gown featuring an elaborate scoop neckline, Italian cutwork on the short-sleeved bodice and hem, and a basque waist of matte satin. She carried a traditional formal cascade of old-fashioned roses accented with stephanotis and petite ivy trailers. Denise Sublette Dunn, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Linda Garrison Sublette, sister-in-law of the bride, Susan Elizabeth Bowden, Deborah Carolene Jordan, Celeste Owens Shelley, Brittany Morgan Grooms and Dristen Nicole Sublette. Christian David Spano, brother of the bridegroom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Joseph Shepard Sublette Jr., brother of the bride, John Nathaniel Dunn Jr., brother-in-law of the bride, Arthur Elliott Marchetta Jr., Martin Zucker, Keith Alexander and Adam Anthony Blanco. The reception was given by the bride’s parents at the Dunwoody Country Club. The rehearsal party was given by the bridegroom’s parents at Dusty’s. Following a wedding trip to San Francisco, Calif., the couple will reside in Atlanta. Renée S. Garner BUFORD, Ga. — Renée Sublette Garner, of Buford, passed away suddenly on June 20, 2012. Born Feb. 10, 1962, in Charleston, she moved to Sumter at age 2. She spent her formative years in Sumter, where she attended school and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She excelled at anything she attempted and was a standout athlete at Wilson Hall in basketball and softball, where she graduated with honors in 1980. She graduated from Clemson University in 1984, where she majored in industrial management and was active in the Chi Omega sorority. Renée had been a member of the Forest Acres Rotary Club in Columbia, where she was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow. She was employed by State Farm Insurance for 27 years and served as a team manager in Duluth, Ga. Renée is survived by her husband, Gary Robert Garner Jr.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph S. Sublette Sr.; her brother, Joseph Shepard (Shep) Sublette Jr. (Linda); and her sister, Denise Sublette Dunn (John), all of Sumter. She is also survived by her special nieces, Brittany G. Rogers (Jimmy) of Greenville, Kristen N. Sublette of Sumter, and Stella M. Spano of Cooper City, Fla.; an uncle, Richard A. Sublette of Shalimar, Fla.; and an aunt, Mrs. William E. (Adele) Brunson Jr., also of Sumter. She also left a number of cousins who loved her. Renee loved life and lived it to the fullest and will be missed by her many friends and family. She loved reading, shagging, beach music and was the life of any gathering. She had the ability to never meet a stranger and was loved by those who came to know her. Anyone she met she made them feel special. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 9 W. Calhoun St., Sumter, SC 29150. The service will be officiated by Dr. Mark Durrett. Renée loved her two dogs, Nicky and Ollie. She visited nursing homes and hospitals with Nicky and truly believed that dog therapy is very important in the healing process.
