  HIST	Cleland lived at Action Plantation, located just off Fish Road in the Stateburg area behind where Shaw Air Force Base is today. It was destroyed by fire in 1911. Cleland Kinloch left the plantation to his brother, Francis. Then, from 1886 to 1902, it was the home of Mrs. St. Julian Ravanel  [1]

• Notes

  On the death of his father he was left at the age of seven, with his brother Francis, to the guardianship of former Governor Boone. Kinloch was a member from Prince George, Winyah, of the South Carolina Convention which ratified the Federal Consitituion, May 23, 1788, and also of the South Carolina General Assembly from 1791 to 1793. In 1807 he bought 611 acres of land in Stateburg in the High Hills of the Santee and there built Acton, a large and beautiful residence with landscaped and terraced grounds.
