A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. James E. Beck will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Directors are caring for the family. Born in Sumter, Myles was a son of the late Myles Thames Sr. and Susie Weatherly Thames. He was a retired truck driver and was a kind-hearted person who dearly loved his family and friends and always loved talking to them. He loved working in his yard, always feeding the birds, fishing and especially lifting weights. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Susie Gilbert Thames; daughter, Pam Griggs of Hartsville; granddaughters, Lindsey Griggs and Maegan Griggs of Hartsville; sister, Deloris McCoy of Sumter; numerous nephews and nieces of Sumter. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Julius Thames and W.R. Thames. The family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care that was provided by Agape Care of South Carolina Sumter.
