"Jerry" Allen, 74, husband of Jacqueline "Jackie" Sharkey Allen, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at McLeod Regional Hospital in Florence. Born in Lake City, he was a son of the late Thomas Woodrow Allen and Lena Bell McKnight Allen. Mr. Allen was a member of the Gideons International. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife; three sons, David Allen and Kendall Allen, both of California, and Arthur Allen of Florida; four brothers, Dalton Allen and Sherwood Allen (Betty), both of Manning, Douglas Allen of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Thomas Allen of Sumter; two sisters, Shannon Consentino (Jim) of Sumter and Gayle Royce of Columbia; four grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Hudson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the home, 4280 Muriel St. Memorials may be made to McLeod Hospitality House, P.O. Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502.
