HOPE H. HOOD
Hope H. Buckner Hood, 90, widow of Henry W. Hood, went to be at rest with the Lord Jesus on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at the Oakmont East Nursing Center in Greenville.
Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Sally Ray Buckner. Mrs. Hood was retired from Campbell Soup Co.
Surviving are a daughter, Gail Moran and husband, Lonnie, of Taylors; a son, David Hood of Sumter; a brother, Vernon Buckner and wife, Evelyn Buckner, of Sumter; two grandsons, Kristian P. Moran and wife, Stephanie, and Zachary V. Moran; a granddaughter, Ashleigh Hope Hood; and two great-grandchildren, Katlin Olivia Moran and Kanen P. Moran.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Hood; a brother, Ray Buckner; and five sisters, Julia Benenhaley, Irma Ray, Janie Ray, Edna Pinkham and Lilly Mae Ray.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the Unit 500 Staff at Oakmont East Nursing Center for their care, concern and love during Hope's stay. Also the family's eternal gratitude to Uncle Chick and Aunt Evelyn for their unwavering support, prayers, kindness and love during these difficult years.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Springbank Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Springbank Baptist Church.
