| HIST | of Manning, South Carolina James D. Snyder Sr. MANNING — James DeBerry Snyder Sr., 92, widower of Iro Kirby Snyder, died on Monday, May 26, 2014, at his residence. Born on May 15, 1922, in Manning, he was a son of the late William Thomas and Dora DeBerry Snyder. He served in the 35th Infantry during World War II as a personnel record clerk for officers and enlisted men. His rank was technical sergeant. He was a retired parts manager for Santee Motor Co. He was a member of Manning United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons, James D. Snyder Jr. (Donna) of Kingstree and Thomas Pickett Snyder of Manning; three daughters, Katherine Ann Stumhofer (Mike) of Columbus, Georgia, Sue Thom (Richard) of Denver, North Carolina, and Jeannie Aull (Craig) of Columbia; a sister, Helen Mills of Columbia; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Desi, Sherry, Rhonda and Tyson for special help care. Also, special thanks to Embrace Hospice and his beloved dog, Spanky. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. James C. Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Snyder Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Zachary Aull, Taylor Aull, Keith Aull, John Rathemacher, Tom Snyder and Jim Snyder. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Stephens Funeral Home.
