He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was the owner of Player Enterprise Inc. and was employed at USC Sumter for many years. Survivors include his mother of Sumter; two children, Rebecca Mitchell (Pete) and William Player (Angela), both of California; two grandchildren; a brother, David Player of Sumter; a nephew, Chance Player of Aiken; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, George H. Foster. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Clanton officiating. Burial will be private. Honorary pallbearers will be members of his Sunday school class. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church following the service and other times at the home of his mother. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 107 E.
