Her sons obituary gives her name as “Doffie” Claire Estelle and Dorothy are sisters. jkh DORIS ESTELLE McLEOD WINDHAM Posted Friday, April 11, 2025 11:29 am Doris Estelle McLeod Windham, 99, widow of Arthur Franklin Windham Sr., passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at her home. Born April 18, 1925, in Sumter County, she was the daughter of the late Ned Samuel Geddings and the late Claire Estelle McLeod Geddings. She was reared by the late Joseph Benjamin McLeod and the late Dorothy McLeod. Mrs. Windham was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She retired from Brody’s Department Store after more than 30 years of service. Survivors include three children, Frankie Windham, Ann Windham Mitchell, and Steve Windham and his wife and much loved daughter-in-law, Nan; seven grandchildren, Keith Windham (Cindy), Leslie Lloyd, Christopher Windham (Jordan), Lori Hawkins (Josh), Mandi Chiappone (Joe), Christine Kohl (Justin) and Anna Elmore (Russ); 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Audrey McLeod; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Christine Hodge, Bert McLeod, John McLeod and Kathleen McLeod. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, in the Sumter Cemetery officiated by Bishop Christopher Brown. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2025, at the home of Steve and Nan Windham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1770 U.S. Highway 15 S., Sumter, SC 29150 or to a charity of one’s choice. A special thank you to all of her caregivers including her nieces, Pat, Betty and Darlene; her dear friends, Deloris and Ivy, who stayed with her 24/7; and to the sweet nurses from hospice, especially Linda.
