Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Wallace Sr. and Flossie Ray Benenhaley. Mrs. Hood was a loyal and dedicated member of Springbank Baptist Church. Survivors include six children, Norman Frazier Hood, Larry Hood (Elaine), Andy Hood (Lynda) and Robbie Hood (Tammy), all of Sumter, Jimmy Hood (Lisa) of Lexington and Margaret Conte (Mike) of Sumter; seven grandchildren, Jamie Hood, Stacy Tisdale (Glenn), Lauren Hood, Jordan Hood, Madison Hood, Morgan Conte and Michael Conte; a great-grandchild, Trey Tisdale; a brother, Wallace Benenhaley Jr. of Dalzell; and a sister, Margie McMickell (Roy) of Sumter. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hamp Benenhaley and James Curtis Benenhaley; and two sisters, Nell Benenhaley and Sue Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Springbank Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Miller and the Rev. Tom Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at 5635 Fish Road, Dalzell. Memorials may be made to Springbank Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 159, Dalzell, SC 29040. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
