| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina THOMAS W. JACKSON JR. Posted Friday, January 6, 2023 6:00 am Thomas W. "Tommy" Jackson Jr., 69, husband of Sarah Barkley Jackson, died on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023, at his home. Born on March 28, 1953, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Thomas W. Sr. and Lenora Johnson Jackson. He was a 1972 graduate of Sumter High School and graduated form Wingate University, where he played baseball on a scholarship. He worked for CNA Construction for 47 years. He coached baseball for parks and recreation and loved going to watch his grandsons play ball. He was an avid hunter and member of Sportsman and Sumter Lee Hunting Clubs. He was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. He was also a member of the United Christian Men of Concord. Survivors include his wife; two children, Clint Jackson (Brandi) and Kelly Brown (Jason); grandsons, Jackson Brown, Payton Brown, Curt Jackson and Logan Brown; a sister, Janice Brunson (Jessie); and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at Concord Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Allen Johnson and the Rev. Jon Beane officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chase Keller, Brandon Barkley, Brett Brogdon, Layne Osteen, Tony Newman and Danny Lowery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sportsman Hunting Club. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concord Presbyterian Church, 3350 E. Brewington Road, Sumter, SC 29153.
