NESBITT Sr. David Eugene "Gene" Nesbitt Sr., 77, husband of Teresa Benoit Nesbitt, died Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at McCoy Nursing Center in Bishopville. Born in Lee County, he was a son of the late Henry David Nesbitt and Martha Windham Hancock. Mr. Nesbitt was retired from Westinghouse - Eaton Electrical. Survivors include his wife of Sumter; a son, David E. Nesbitt Jr. (Tonya) of Elgin; four stepchildren, Janie Webb of Sumter, JoAnn Stiles of Dalzell, George Surver of Columbia and Linda Harper (Victor) of Sumter; three grandchildren, David E. Nesbitt III, Ashleigh Hamilton and Malena Nesbitt; and three great-grandchildren, Bailey, Chloe and Kylie. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Mosier officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Ave. North, Suite 101, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
