Kelly, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Walterboro, she was a daughter of Shirley Herndon Bailey Baker and the late John Earl Bailey Sr. She was a member of Smithville Evangelical Baptist Church. A Relay for Life team, "Kelly's Heroes," was formed by family in her honor after she was diagnosed in March 1999 with cancer. She loved softball and played softball until her health failed. She then enjoyed watching her nieces and nephews play. Survivors besides her husband and mother include her stepfather, Dallas Baker Sr.; three sons, Don A. "D.J." Kelly Jr. and his wife, Amanda, Joshua S. Kelly and Patrick K. Kelly, all of Sumter; three brothers, John Earl "Bubba" Bailey Jr. and his fiancee, Julie, Wayne Bailey and his wife, Melissa, and Paul Bailey, all of Sumter; four sisters, Johnnie Sue Edwards and her husband, Larry, Donna Baker and her husband, Jimmy, and Becky Blakley and her husband, Archie, all of Sumter, and Sara Bailey of Myrtle Beach; a stepbrother, Dallas "Bubba" Baker Jr. of Sumter; a stepsister, Judy Snyder of Lexington; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Margaret Kelly; brother-in-law, Joe S. Kelly Jr. of Lexington; sisters-in-law, Sara Jo Kelly Kent and her husband, Kevin, of Pontiac, and Lisa Kelly Krouse and her husband, Paul, of Sumter; and two grandchildren, Zachary Chase Springs and Abbigail Gracelyn Kelly. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Freddie Gaymon, the Rev. Donnie Collins and the Rev. Lewis Reed officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be nieces, nephews and the Pond Gang. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Donna and Jimmy Baker, 225 Pinecrest Drive. Memorials may be made to Smithville Evangelical Baptist Church, c/o Jimmy Baker, 225 Pinecrest Drive, Sumter, SC 29153.
