Rabon, of Sumter, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at their home. A celebration with family and friends will be held at a later date. Their two children and their spouses are Teresa and Todd Harris of Sumter and Sandra and Garland Hunt of Franklin, Tennessee. The couple has six grandchildren. Mrs. Rabon is the former Juanita Jackson of Sumter. BOBBY BARRON RABON Posted Thursday, October 27, 2022 6:00 am Bobby Barron Rabon, 91, died on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Juanita Jackson Rabon, to whom he was married for 72 years. Born on Nov. 4, 1930, he was a son of the late Grover Ezell Rabon Sr. and Katie Rabon. Bobby was a faithful member of Crosswell Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and chairman of the building committee for building the sanctuary. He was also bestowed deacon emeritus. He was on the board of the Baptist Foundation. Bobby was a former Sumter County probate judge. He served for 20 years. He was the state representative to the National College of Probate Judges. He also served on the State Judiciary Oversite Committee and was chairman of the Arthur O'Neill Education Trust Fund. He was a former member of the Optimist Club, where he was voted Optimist of the Year. He was also a member of Masonic Post 64, where he was past master. He also served as a former member of the board of the Sumter YMCA. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard. Prior to becoming judge of probate, he and his brother, Pete, owned and operated Rabon Bros. Sealtest Milk Distributors for 23 years. Following his retirement, Bobby could be found enjoying fellowship with friends every day at the YMCA, until his health began to fail. Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Teresa Harris (Todd) and Sandra Hunt (Garland); grandchildren, Kyle Radford (Sophia), Bryson Radford (Blakely), Mary Kathryn Mahan (William) and Chad Hunt; brother, Larry Rabon (Geri); sister, Betty Lewis; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son; sisters, Emily Haselden, Sara Davis and Mickey Brown; and brothers, Grover Rabon Jr. and Pete Rabon. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday at Crosswell Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Owens officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
