He was the beloved husband of the late Marie of 53 years and the late Charlotte Player of 17 years; loving father of Elaine (Robert) Thomas and Cheryl (Kenneth) James; proud grandfather of Jennifer (Tim) Smith, Susan (Randy) Bunting, William (Carrie) Thomas, Rebecca, Rachel and Sarah James; great-grandfather of Erin, Grace, Ben, Matthew, Addison and Sam; fond brother of the late Fred Huntington and Mabel Shinouskis; and dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. George was a retired battalion chief of the Chicago Fire Department and a member of the SAR. The body will be placed in Trinity Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. Thursday until time of service at 11 a.m. Interment in Fairmount Willow Cemetery.
