ALICE B. BEATY
Alice Brown Beaty, 87, widow of Dr. Robert Wesley Beaty Jr., died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at a local nursing center.
Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Robert Tillman Brown and Mildred Hall Brown. Mrs. Beaty was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Hunter Beaty and wife, Ann, Paul Wesley Beaty and wife, Melanie, and Lee Sloan Beaty and wife, Lee, all of Sumter; two brothers, Robert Tillman Brown Jr. and Jeanette of Summerton and Murr Hall Brown of Sumter; two sisters, Mildred Shaw of Sumter and Jane Jeffress and husband, Jeff, of Alexandria, La.; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Hall Brown and Thomas Edward Brown; a sister, Betty Cain; and a great-grandchild, Anne Marie Elizabeth Lambert.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter with the Rev. Dr. John Barr and the Rev. Marcus Kaiser officiating.
Private family burial will be in Sumter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at her home and also from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter Parish Hall.
