Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Vergie Gunn Berry. Mrs. Simpson attended Wise Drive Church of the Nazarene. Surviving are one son, Gaither Allison “Buddy” Simpson Jr. (Merri) of Sumter; one daughter, Lisa Simpson Coker (Randy) of Sumter; one sister, Betty Emore of Sumter; three grandchildren, Barry Simpson, Jonathan Coker and Laura Coker; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Jimmy Berry, Frankie Berry and Johnny Berry; and one sister, Nina Pittman. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Sammy Geddings officiating. The family will receive friends following the services.
