| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina 100 Macy St., Sumter, South Carolina ELEANOR BRADLEY TRUETT Posted Thursday, August 13, 2020 6:00 am Eleanor Bradley Truett, daughter of the late Furman Albert and Sarah Susannah Coleman Bradley, passed from this living world on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020, after a long battle with dementia. She was born on Nov. 21, 1934, in Lee County. At an early age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was a long-standing member of Smithville Evangelical Baptist Church in Sumter. At Smithville, she served faithfully for many years as the primary class Sunday school teacher and in leadership with the Ladies Auxiliary. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Raymond Beauford Truett on Nov. 23, 1950. This union was blessed with one beautiful and cherished daughter, Sara Jean Truett Coulter, who preceded her mother in death only five months prior on March 23, 2020. She retired from Becton Dickinson after many years of service and enjoyed working in her yard with Raymond, collecting baby dolls and spending time with her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart. Those who knew her, witnessed the cruelty of disease as it stole her memories, her health and her ability to communicate with those she loved most. Regardless of the memories she lost, her ability to sing hymns, pray over her loved ones or bless a meal never failed. Her faith was strong until the end. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter; son-in-law, Theodis Coulter; and three brothers, Charles Laverne "Bubba" Bradley, Albert Rudolph Bradley and Haggard Furman Bradley. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Beauford (Kimberly) Coulter of Sumter, Leigh (Kevin) Bogdany of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Susie (Jim) Lyles of Sumter and Valirie (Josh) Risinger of West Columbia. She was blessed beyond words to love 10 great-grandchildren, Ryan (Joanna) Marcella, Amber Coulter, Bradley Coulter, Brandon Bogdany, Austin Bogdany, Caitlyn Bogdany, Courtney Lyles, Alexis Risinger, KayLeigh Risinger and Thomas Risinger. She also leaves three precious and dear sisters, Mary Anderson of Columbia, Roberta (Joseph) Hinson of Everett, Pennsylvania, and Minnie (James) Kinlaw of Florence. She also had the joy of loving so many nieces, nephews, caregivers and friends through the years, who always held a special place in her heart. The family will hold a graveside service at noon on Friday at Sumter Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Jimmy Parris. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please visit the Hospice Cleveland County (NC) "Wish List" at www.hospicecares.cc/wish-list and donate an item (or two) to assist them in their passionate mission of assisting those in need. The love and support of their staff has been immeasurable during the last five months and we are forever grateful for them. We are also grateful and blessed to have had the care and love of the staff of Peak Resources Cherryville. No words can express how much we appreciate you loving our Mema when we were not able to be there with her during this pandemic. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements. [1, 2, 4, 5] | |
