  HIST	of Sumter, South Carolina David R. Stidd David Ross Stidd, 80, husband of Christine Baker Stidd, died Monday, June 20, 2011, at Sumter Health and Rehabilitation. Born in Belmont County, Ohio, he was a son of the late Harry and Lucile Johnson Stidd. Mr. Stidd was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and was retired from Campbell Soup Co. He was a U.S/ Air Force veteran and a member of the American Legion for 40 years. Survivors include his wife; three children, Terry Lee Stidd, Ronnie Stidd and Dee Dewil (Bill), all of Sumter; five grandchildren, Greg Glazier (Shannon), Matt Dewil, Rebecca Ashford (Patrick), Jonathan Stidd (Jennifer) and Andy Stidd (Rhonda); five great-grandchildren, Austin, Abigail and Liam Glazier, and Gunner and Rykard Ashford; a brother, Benjamin Stidd of Ohio; a sister, Pat Brado of Sumter; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tonya Glazier. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lakewood Baptist Church with the Rev. Sammy Thompson officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Baptist Church cemetery in Rembert. Pallbearers will be the deacons of Lakewood Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 388 Catie St. Memorials may be made to Lakewood Baptist Church, 3140 Nazarene Church Road, Sumter, SC 29154.
