"Coach Bill" Brown, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia. Born June 14, 1953, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Curtis and Annie Maude Hinson Geddings. She was a longtime resident of Sumter. She was a 1971 graduate of Sumter High School and attended Liberty University for two years. Survivors in addition to her husband of 52 years include two sons, Justin Brown and Aaron Brown; two grandsons, Matthew Brown and Will Brown; five sisters, Polly Hill (Cleve), Betty Lynn Ardis, Lillie McCoy, Bobbie Jean Strickland and Dianne Parnell; two brothers, Wayne Geddings (Karen) and Michael Geddings (Diane); and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Geddings and Shirley G. Avins. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Great Commission Ministries, 3503 Turbeville Highway, Lake City, officiated by Pastor Derrick Fort. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.  [1, 3, 4, 5, 6]
