BERNIE SINGLETON
Bernie Singleton, 76, widower of Louise Lowery Singleton, departed this life on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at Sumter Health and Rehabilitation.
Born Sept. 1, 1933, in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Sparrow Faison and Ella Bell McCoy.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his devoted daughters, Ella McCain (Steven) and Olga Singleton, both of Sumter; a daughter-in-law, Denise Singleton; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a special friend, Ella Brunson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Lowery Singleton; two brothers, Matthew and Leon Singleton; a sister, Daisy Mae Singleton; a son, Bernie Singleton Jr.; and a granddaughter, Anthonette Singleton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Cory Stevenson officiating, eulogist.
The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Ella McCain, 865 Unity Court, Sumter.
The funeral procession will leave from the home of his daughter at 1:30 p.m.
Floral bearers and pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Burial will be in Barfield Cemetery, Alcolu.
