- Obituary: Funeral services were held November 22, 1956 for Melvin Griggs 74, who died November 18 at St. Johns Hospital. Mr. Griggs a retired farmer lived at 108 South Wisconsin, Salina and was a resident of Salina twenty years. The rev. Raymond Dewey officiated the services held at Rush Smith Funeral Home, interment was at Roselawn Memorial Park. He was born in Illinois December 12, 1881. Surviving are his divorced wife, Sadie parker; five children, Lawrence, Leonard, Clinton and Marvin Griggs. and Lillian McCracken, all living in California. Three brothers Hugh Griggs of Tescott, Preston Griggs of Marquette, John Griggs of Denver, Colorado and a half-brother Walt Griggs Oak Hill Kansas, and tow sisters Mrs. Ludie Lingren and Estell Starks, both of Lindsborg.
