March 17 1926. Chase County Leader News, Chase County Kansas. Obituary of Mrs. Elizabeth M. Crouthers. Mrs. Elizabeth M. Crouthers died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jim Graham, in this city, last Saturday, March 13th, following a long illness. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon after which internment was made in Prarie Grove cemetery west of this city. Mrs. Crouthers was born in Ohio, in 1848, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson Morrow. She moved from her native state, Ohio, to Indiana while still a girl and there grew to womanhood. She was married to George Washington Crouthers in 1866 (NOTE: Error married in 1867) in South Bend Indiana. For a number of years Indiana remained their home. To this union nine children were born, eight of whom survive. Mr. Crouthers death occurred in 1902. The surviving children are Charles Crouthers, of Dunlap: Homer Crouthers, of El Dorado: John Crouthers of El Dorado, Mo.; Henry Crouthers of Salina; Mrs. James Graham and Mrs. Sadie Sublett of this city; Mrs. Katie Morton and Mrs. Lizzie Thomas both of El Dorado Kansas. Besides these children Mrs. Crouthers is survived by four brothers and sisters: 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Early in life Mrs. Crouthers became a member of the Methodist Church. She was a loving and kind mother and a faithful wife and was loved by all who knew her.
