Mathis, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at a local nursing center. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Eddie Columbus Weatherly and the late Rosie B. Smith Weatherly. Surviving are a son, Raymond "Doug" Mathis and wife, Debbie, of Sumter; a daughter, Valerie Mathis Wilkes of Sumter; two grandchildren, Stephen Mathis and Megan Wilkes; and two brothers, Philip Weatherly and Carl Weatherly, both of Sumter. She was preceded in death by four brothers, E.C. Weatherly Jr., Rudolph Weatherly, Cliff Weatherly and Raymond Weatherly; and a sister, Valeree Weatherly Newman. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Eugene Franklin officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, 210 Lesesne Drive.
