Simpson- jkh 469-8563 221 Cromer Drive Sumter, South Carolina ANNIE SIMPSON Posted Tuesday, July 11, 2017 6:00 am Annie Margaret Singleton Craft Simpson took her heavenly flight on July 9, 2017, at her residence under the loving care of her family. Born on May 5, 1926, in Sumter, to Richard Richardson Singleton and Annie Priscilla Kolb Singleton, Annie Margaret grew up during the Depression and suffered the loss of her father at a very young age. She married CW Craft at the young age of 15, and they were married for 45 years, until his death. She was preceded in death by three children, Barbara Carol Craft Caraway, Charles Richard "Mickey" Craft and Brian Keith Craft, in addition to her two husbands, C.W. Craft and Gene Simpson; two sisters, Dorothy Lambert Young and Beulah Daniels; a brother, Richard R. Singleton Jr.; and one son-in-law, Larry Turner. Her faith was tested on many levels similar to that of Job in the Bible. She remained steadfast in her faith up until her final days here on Earth, praying fervently for his will to be done. She was a faithful Christian and member for many years at First Church of the Nazarene and then later at Wise Drive Church of the Nazarene. She was a dedicated employee at Woolco, Taps and the Uniform Shop, all in Sumter. She was always a devoted mother to all nine of her children and leaves six of them to remember her, Donald Ray "Ducky" Craft (Linda), Elizabeth Ann "Lib" Craft Turner, William Randolph "Randy" Craft (Cathy), Pamela Jean Craft Shuler (Shot), Michael Wayne "Mike" Craft (Anita) and Tammy Kay Craft (Allen Cuttino). She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Sue Craft; and her sister, Shirley White Roberson (Horace). She was a devoted "Mammie" to 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and was soon to have her first great-great-grandson. She was also a spirited "Aunt Cocky" to many nieces and nephews. She had a heart of gold, quick wit, sharp mind and the ability to throw a meal together like every day was a Sunday. When she put her apron on, she became somewhat of a superhero in the kitchen. She was a master of finances as well as a fashion critic. She was a diehard Braves fan and thought nothing of telling Bobby Cox what she thought as she watched the games, fussing at the TV. She added a spark to our lives that will never go dim. She was and will always be an inspiration to us, and we will be forever grateful for the time we had with her. The family wishes to express a heartfelt appreciation to Annie Margaret's caregiver, Terri Simmons, who has become a surrogate daughter, as well as to Tri-County Hospice for all of their support throughout Annie Margaret's illness. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Wise Drive Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Sammy Geddings presiding. Interment will follow in Sumter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Duke Craft, Robert Burrows, Donny Craft, Darren Craft, Daniel Caraway, Will Craft and Brandon Cuttino. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bullock Funeral Home and other times at the home. You may go to www.bullockfuneralhome.com and sign the family's guest book. The family has chosen Bullock Funeral Home for the arrangements. [3, 5, 9, 12] | |
